New Delhi: The Delhi government will launch a week-long programme to sensitise people about cleanliness as a part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi Oct 2 on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
One of the pet projects of Narendra Modi government, Swachh Bharat aims to provide every family with a toilet by 2019.
As part of the awareness campaign which will start Sep 25, Delhi government plans to reach out to over 8 lakh ration card holders by sending sms to their registered mobile phone numbers, said a Delhi government official.
"The Delhi government will submit a report to the Centre over its plan of action for the awareness campaign on Swachh Bharat programme," he added.
In a meeting held Wednesday, heads of various departments submitted their suggestions for the campaign.
"Every department will have a nodal officer who will monitor its functioning in sensitising the people on sanitation," the official added.
