Route: Varanasi-Jabalpur-Nagpur-Hyderabad-Bangalore-Madurai-Kanyakumari
This highway starts from the area Hyderabad Gate in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
The 2,369 km long road is the longest National Highway of India and one of the major road network between south and north India.
As per the recent rationalization of highway numbers this highway is proposed to be renamed as NH 44, but it is still named as NH 7 as per official government records.
It cross six states and connects major Indian cities like Varanasi, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Madurai.
Some portion of the NH 7 is part of North-South Corridor and Golden Quadrilateral highway projects.
NH 7 is maintained by Central Public Works Department (CPWD).
