Guwahati: Two Union ministers from Assam Paban Singh Ghatowar and Ranee Narah and their spouses have assets amounting to Rs 5.91 crore and Rs 8.78 crore respectively.
DONER Minister Ghatowar, contesting as a Congress candidate to retain the prestigious Dibrugarh constituency for the sixth term, has assets worth Rs 4,24,40,879 while his MLA and Parliamentary Secretary wife Jibantara Ghatowar has assets valued at Rs 1,67,88,558, according to affidavit filed by him during nomination.
Ghatowar's total annual income, as per the income tax returns filed, has been shown at Rs 16,00,765 while that of his spouse at Rs 7,99,276.
Tribal affairs minister Narah, also a Congress candidate from Lakhimpur contesting to retain the seat for the fourth term, has assets worth Rs 6,43,72,961 crore while her husband Bharat Narah, a former Congress Minister and till recently the chief minister's media Advisor, was worth Rs 2,34,46,858 crore.
In the affidavit during filing of nomination, Narah declared her total annual income at Rs 21,81,720 and that of her spouse at Rs 8,68,670.
Ghatowar's total value of movable properties was worth Rs 15,940,879 which include cash in hand, bank deposits, term deposits, jewellery and vehicles, according to the affidavit submitted by him during his nomination.
He has a Toyota Etios vehicle whose depreciated value of Rs 4,48,511 is mentioned in the affidavit while he inherited jewellery from his father worth Rs 63,000. Ghatowar's total current value of immovable property was worth Rs 1.65 crore.
He owns non-agricultural land in Guwahati worth Rs 26 lakh, a house at Moranhat in Sibsagar worth Rs 41 lakh and a 500 sq ft flat at Dwarka in New Delhi worth Rs 98 lakh.
