New Delhi: Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati yesteroday took a ride in Airport Express Metro along with other passengers and asked the authorities to explore possibilities of starting a free shuttle bus service connecting the Aerocity station with domestic terminal of IGI airport.
The Minister travelled from Shivaji Stadium to the Airport Metro station on his way to the IGI Airport for an official inspection.
He also used the Airport Express line to come back from the Aerocity Metro station to Shivaji Stadium Metro station, informed Anuj Dayal, DMRC Executive Director (Corporate Communications).
The minister interacted with the passengers and asked the airport authorities to explore the possibility of starting a free shuttle bus service connecting the Delhi Aerocity Metro station with the domestic terminal of the Airport (T-1) so that passengers travelling through Terminal-1 can also use the Airport Express Line, Dayal said.
The Airport Express line today also completed one year since the DMRC took over the operations of the metro line from the concessionaire with Reliance Infra.
In the last one year, the average daily ridership on the Airport line has increased by 28 per cent to 12,856 in June this year from 10,069 in July last year, Dayal added.
