New Delhi: A woman spokesperson of Asaram Bapu was booked for making derogatory remarks against Guru Nanak, while defending the spiritual leader in an alleged case of sexual assault, police said. Asaram Bapu has denied the allegation against him.
Neelam, a spokesperson of Asaram Bapu, was booked under the sections of hurting religious sentiments of a community on a complaint lodged by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Committee in Parliament Street police station in central Delhi, police said.
According to the complaint, the spokesperson allegedly made objectionable remarks against Gautam Buddha, Guru Nanak and other religious leaders while reacting to the rape allegations made made by a minor girl against Asaram Bapu.
The alleged remarks were made by Neelam during a discussion on a Hindi news channel.
On Tuesday, a 16-year-old girl gave a complaint to Delhi Police accusing the spiritual leader of sexually assaulting her at his ashram in Rajasthan's Jodhpur. The complaint was later forwarded to Rajasthan Police for investigation.
