Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Tanga Byaling today said that zero tolerance to crime would be his policy to maintain law and order in the state.
When asked as to what would be his priorities as Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has fulfilled the demand to appoint an independent Home Minister, he said, “We will soon make a policy in consultation with Itanagar MLA, DGP, home commissioner, councillors and civil societies, particularly committees of the traders, colonies and NGOs, to stop crime.”
“I plan to install CCTV cameras at all vulnerable points in the Capital Complex and in each gate to be set up in all colonies for which I shall seek the help of corporate bodies, project implementers, big business houses and civilians,” he said.
On being pointed out that youth were victims of reckless bike driving, hundreds of bikes were lifted from the Capital Complex since December, there were numerous vehicles plying without number plates and use of number plates similar to government vehicles, the home minister said the new policy would make number plates, license for drivers, use of helmets, strict adherence to traffic rules and speed limit mandatory to check accidents.
“I shall be holding meeting with all sections of the society to seek their opinion for incorporating in the policy,” he said, and made a fervent appeal to the civil society for cooperation.
On inter-state boundary row, he said that the solution would depend on the report of the Supreme Court-constituted Local Boundary Commission, but till then “We would honour the status quo agreements signed between the Assam and Arunachal governments.
