New Delhi: Pakistan must stop "this unprovoked firing and shelling" on the frontier in Jammu and Kashmir, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said today. Jaitley warned Pakistan that India will make the cost of this adventurism unaffordable for them.

"Our armed forces have been doing a commendable job in face of unprovoked attacks from Pakistan. If Pakistan persists with this adventurism, our forces will make cost of this adventurism unaffordable for it," added Jaitley.

He said that the ceasefire violations are "an effort by Pakistan to precipitate tensions where none exist".

"Pakistan has to stop this unprovoked firing and shelling… as long as it continues how can there be peace," Jaitley asked while speaking to the media.

"Pakistan is clearly the aggressor in ceasefire violations. Pakistan should stop this unprovoked firing and shelling if it wants peace on border. How can you hold talks when firing is on from across the border," Jaitley further added.
