New Delhi: Union Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday arrived in Amritsar on a day-long visit.
He was received by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, state Cabinet Ministers and other leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the airport here.
During his stay, Jaitley is scheduled to visit Army Cantonment and would also interact with the Army personnel.
He would pay obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib and Durgiana Temple, a party leader said.
This is his maiden visit to this holy city after assuming the charge of Defence and Finance Minister.
Jaitley had lost to Congress' Amarinder Singh from Amritsar by over 1,00,000 votes.
