The Art of Living Foundation set up by Sri Sri Ravishankar has received extortion calls demanding Rs 42 crore failing which the organization would be maligned and defamed, a spokesperson of the Foundation said.
"While three members of the Foundation received separate calls four days ago, the fourth call was received by another member yesterday" Girin Govind, Secretary of Sri Sri Ravishankar told PTI on Tuesday .
"We have already filed complaints in this regard at the Talaghatapura police station and also to the Superintendent of Police, Ramanagaram District", he said.
The matter has also been brought to the notice of the Director General of Police, he said.
A bullet was fired at the convoy of 54-year-old spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar on May 30 as he was leaving the prayer hall. However, the incident was dismissed by police as a bullet fired at a stray dog by a man who owned a farmhouse near the ashram. PTI
