Jaipur, Jul 29: Army has been roped in to rescue five persons stuck on a small island in Parvati river in Ayana village of Kota, police said today.

The village is situated some 100 kilometres from Kota town.

Lakhan (22), Khemraj (21), Bhima (9) Dhiraj (12) and Rakesh (14) had gone to the island last evening in Ayana village of Itawa town when the level of water was very low.

The water flow increased following heavy rainfall and they could not return and stayed there, police said.

“Water level in the river is around 15-20 feet and the boys are stuck on a distance of close to 100 meters.

Army has been called and requisition for a helicopter has also been forwarded,” Vikas Pathak, SP Kota Rural told PTI.

One Army column from the south-western command was pressed into service for rescue mission.

“The army engineers from Gandhiv Division are equipped with BAUT's (Boat assault universal type) and OBM (Out Board Motor) for the rescue,” defence spokesperson Col SD Goswami said.
