Arjun Ram Meghwal new law minister: In the latest reshuffle to the cabinet, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arjun Ram Meghwal has been appointed as the new Union Law Minister. He will be replacing incumbent Kiren Rijiju who has been assigned to the Ministry of Earth Sciences. Union Minister Jitendra Singh was holding charge of the Ministry of Earth Sciences
Meghwal is currently the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and the Minister of State for Culture. He has been assigned an independent charge as Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice in addition to his existing portfolios.
Rashtrapati Bhavan issues statement on reshuffle
A statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said that President Droupadi Murmu reallocated portfolios among ministers as advised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "The portfolio of (the) Ministry of Earth Sciences be assigned to Shri Kiren Rijiju," the statement read.
Meanwhile, Rijiju changed his Twitter bio mentioning the Minister of Earth Sciences, India. He also said that it has been a privilege and an honour for him to serve as Union Minister of Law & Justice under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Who is Arjun Ram Meghwal?
Born on December 20, 1953, Meghwal was also an IAS Officer in the Rajasthan Cadre and regarded as the face of Schedule caste in Rajasthan. In the year 2009, he got elected as the Member of Parliament representing the BJP from Bikaner Constituency.
Later, he took oath as a Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha. In the general election 2014, he got re-elected from the Bikaner Constituency for 16th Lok Sabha. During his second term as a parliamentarian, he was Chief Whip of Bhartiya Janta Party in Lok Sabha.
Meghwal has also served as minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises and was awarded as the Best Parliamentarian in 2013.
