New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA government will face time crunch to get its ordinances approved in the parliament during the Budget session.
With the tightly packed schedule of 20 sittings of the session, starting from February 23 to March 20, it will have only five days to deal with six ordinances at hand.
The initial 15 days are expected to go to railway and general budgets, President's address and its discussion and other private members' bills. Hence it will be left with only five odd days to deal with six distinct ordinances.
Aware of the tight schedule, BJP floor managers have planned to resume back-channel negotiations with opposition parties as the ruling party does not have a majority in Rajya Sabha.
Apparently, these six bills are pending since the last session of parliament as it could not be passed in the Upper House due to opposition's disruption.
Reportedly, the list of ordinances passed in the last two months include those of easing land acquisitions, allowing 49% foreign investment in the insurance sector, coal block allocations and allowance of e-rickshaws in the National Capital Region.
