Meerut, Jul 12: In yet another incident reflecting the dismal state of healthcare in Uttar Pradesh, under trained staff of a government hospital here were caught on camera carrying out postmortem.
According to local media reports, one of the postmortems at the district hospital was yesterday carried out in the open allegedly by class IV employees.
However, doctors at the hospital have refuted the reports saying the employees were not carrying out postmortem but cleaning the extremely decayed body.
Chief Medical Officer Subodh Kumar Bajpai insisted that doctors have always been present during all postmortems.
He, however, said that a probe would be ordered to check whether class IV employees were indeed involved. He dismissed making much about postmortem being carried out in the open, saying there are times when autopsies of extremely decayed bodies need to be done in daylight.
An under trained pharmacist and a sweeper were shown by TV channels administering injections and stitching wounds in the emergency ward of the district hospital in Ballia.
While in Bulandshahr, a class IV employee was found carrying out stitches on the wounds of an injured child and another one giving an injection to a patient.
