New Delhi, Dec 9 : With only two working days left, the winter session of Parliament looks all set to be lost to the stand-off between government and the Opposition over the issue of JPC probe into the 2G spectrum scam as another day was wasted today.

Parliament witnessed possibly the longest such paralysis as the 20th consecutive working day today was wasted because of pandemonium with a united Opposition persisting with the demand for JPC.

The Opposition demand for JPC into the Rs 64 crore kickbacks into the Bofors gun deal had also led to disruption of Parliament for about 45 days in 1987, but the government pointed out there was no shutdown like this."No more development in the situation. I have nothing to say," Leader of Lok Sabha and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee told reporters when asked about the logjam.

Like the previous days in this session, both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha adjourned for the day without transacting any substantial business as Opposition members stormed the well demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe.

As slogan shouting continued unabated, the Presiding Officers directed the laying of papers and then adjourned the two Houses. Parliament is slated to adjourn sine die on Monday.

Earlier when the Lok Sabha assembled, Speaker Meira Kumar welcomed a Mongolian delegation to watch the Lok Sabha proceedings. Immediately thereafter, Opposition members, including BJP, AIADMK, SP and Left, rushed to the well raising slogans, forcing adjournment till noon.

Soon after the Rajya Sabha met for the day, BJP and AIADMK members trooped into the well shouting "We Want JPC." Members of other opposition parties too stood up in their support.Chairman Hamid Ansari called for the first listed question of the day but with members unrelenting, he adjourned the House till 1200 hours.PTI
