The petitioners from Karimnagar district have urged the SHRC to allow them to sell their kidneys as they were not in a position to pay the amount demanded by the Nepalese woman as the price for their husbands' freedom.

The SHRC has asked the state government to reply on the women's petition by January 2013.

Migrants' rights council convener, Bheem Reddy, said, "The victim's wife has pardoned the men and has agreed to pay for 50 per cent fee. We all initiated, but they are all poor people and when they were unable to get the money they approached the human rights commission to sell their kidneys and raise the money."

The women say that they were tired after knocking doors at all corners and are left with only one possible way out as they were struggling to run their families alone in the absence of their husbands.

Reshma, wife of jailed Indian migrant Kareem, said, "He went there to work. I don't know what happened. They said he is in jail. No word, no phone. We have a child. How can we do anything without him? We went to a lot of people but nobody helped."
