Hyderabad: Police in Guntakal on Sunday thrashed four murder suspects Sekhar, Somu, Peddanna alias Pedda and Hussain in full public view.
The suspects had been in jail since November 30.
The policemen, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police E Supraja, took the suspects to a crowded bus depot of the town and beat them mercilessly in order to set an example.
The incident was filmed on cellphone cameras by some of the spectators in the large crowd seen heckling the suspects and cheering the police.
The footage of the incident was telecast on Monday by local news channels that showed a police team led by DSP Supraja and other police personnel beating up the four suspects in full public view.
Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) B Prasada Rao has ordered disciplinary action against the cops.
Condemning the act, the AP Police Chief directed the DIG (Anantapur Range) to initiate disciplinary action against the lady police officer and other policemen.
