Jammu: The Amarnath yatra resumed today, after remaining suspended for two days, with a fresh batch of 673 pilgrims left for the holy cave in south Kashmir Himalayas amid tight security.
The yatra was suspended from Jammu base camp for last two days in the wake of a massive landslide triggered by heavy rains at Kheri in Udhampur district on Friday night.
The batch comprising 410 men, 121 women and 142 sadhus left in a motorcade of 16 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp here at 09:45 AM today, a police official said. The pilgrims would reach the twin base camps at Pahalgam and Baltal by this evening, he added.
With this batch, as many as 48,052 pilgrims have so far left from the Jammu base camp for the shrine.
