Harsil, where time stands still



Located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, Harsil is a village situated on the banks of Bhagirathi River on the way to Hindu pilgrimage, Gangotari. It is perched at a height of 7,860 ft (2,620 metres.) from sea level and is 73 kms away from Uttarkashi.

The uniqueness of Harsil is more admirable because of its unpolluted beauty, panoramic excursions and offers tranquility and exquisiteness.

Harsil is a picturesque hamlet situated in the laps of Himalayas and is successfully tempting tourists from a long time with its celestial and unrivaled beauteousness. It provides invigorating views of the Himalayas. It is mainly known for scenic landscapes and apples.

Harsil is a small cantonment area, mainly inhabited by a small number of Jadhs, an ethinic group of the Bhotiyas with their language resembling Tibetan.
