Taking serious note of the complaints, the Chief Minister directed to suspend the officers concerned. Talking to reporters during the visit, Akhilesh said laxity would not be tolerated at any cost and officials would be taken to task.
Expressing his displeasure with the media, he said they (the media) have no interest in raising the problems faced by people in other parts of the country. “It is only Uttar Pradesh government which is being defamed,” he said.
Stressing that his surprise visits to districts would continue, the Chief Minister said if needed the departmental ministers would also undertake similar visits.
The visits come at a time when the state's ruling Samajwadi Party facing flak from all quarters over poor law and order situation, particularly after the gang rape and murder of two minor girls in Badaun district.
The party too faced drubbing in the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections winning just five of the state's 80 seats.
