A passenger on an Air India flight from Delhi to New York (AI 101) complained of seeing a dog in the omelette served on the flight on September 17, 2024. A passenger with 2-year-old boy travellers said they were partially consuming food before they spotted the crocodile, causing food poisoning. He posted a video and pictures of the meal on social media to tag Air India, DGCA and Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu.
"My 2 year old finished more than half of it with me when we found this. Suffered from food poisoning as a result," the passenger said on X.
Air India's response and investigation
In response, an Air India spokesperson expressed concern and said the airline had referred the matter to its catering department for investigation. The spokesperson assured that measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future, stressing that the airline works with leading global caterers who follow stringent procedures to ensure food quality.
"We are aware of a social media post by a passenger regarding a foreign object in the onboard meal offered to them on AI 101 operating from DEL to JFK on 17 September 2024," the spokesperson said.
Commitment to customer safety and meal quality
Air India stressed its commitment to customer safety and high food quality standards. The airline said it would implement necessary actions based on the investigation to prevent such incidents from happening again on future flights.
