Bhargav Parikh, a resident of Signore Residency in Satellite, Ahmedabad, who lost his Verna car on June 17, lost his brand new Fiat Linea on June 19. He had left the keys of the car on the dashboard of Verna, reports Mirror.

In a twist to the curious case of nine Vernas being stolen in a span of one month, owner of one of these Vernas also lost his second car — a Fiat Linea he had bought only 15 days ago.

The keys of his brand new car were on the dashboard of the stolen Verna and the thieves clearly cashed in on their luck.

Bhargav Parikh had lost his Verna car on June 18. That week, thieves had stolen several cars from Satellite and Vastrapur areas.

Parikh and his wife Dr Ruchi were busy shopping in Himalaya Mall on June 17 (Thursday) when the thieves drove away in their Verna car.

Around 11 pm, when they came out of the mall, they could not find their car. Parikh immediately lodged a police complaint.   When they went back home, Parikh's wife realised that the keys of their brand new Fiat Linea was also in the stolen Verna. They, however, had a spare key of the car with them.

Parikh mentioned the same to the cops. To make sure thieves don't target his new car next, Parikh, on Friday, even called up an assistant at the showroom from where he bought the car to enquire about a security device.

He asked Parikh to come and meet him the next day so that he could install a smart code system in his car.

But on the morning of June 19, the day he was to get a security system installed in his car to make it theft-proof, his Fiat Linea was stolen.

Dr Ruchi had taken the car to attend to an emergency at a patient's place. She had parked the vehicle outside a building in Anandnagar, Satellite. When she came downstairs after 10 minutes, the car was gone.

“This is double whammy. I lost two cars in a matter of three days. It seems like the thieves were watching our movements and struck at the best possible opportunity,” said a distraught Parikh.

He has now lodged a second theft complaint with Vastrapur police .
