Congress president Sonia Gandhi has asked senior party leaders and union ministers Pranab Mukherjee and AK Antony to submit a report on the Adarsh housing society scam in Mumbai.

The party will take any decision on the future course of action after receiving the report, party spokesperson Janardhan Dwivedi told reporters here.

He was speaking after Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan met Gandhi and offered to resign in the wake of reports that three of his relatives -- mother-in-law, sister-in-law and brother-in-law -- were allotted flats in Adarsh Group Housing Society in upscale Colaba in south Mumbai.

Dwivedi said Gandhi has asked the finance minister Mukherjee and defence minister Antony to submit the report on the issue and any decision will be taken only after receiving the same.

"Any further development on the issue would take place only after their report," he said. PTI
