New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has rejected Home Ministry's proposal for extending tenure of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Delhi Transport Corporation.

The two-member ACC, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh, has not approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for extension of tenure of Gitanjali Gupta Kundra, a 1996 batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre, as CVO in the DTC, said an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

The Home Ministry had sought extension in Kundra's tenure in DTC, under the Delhi Government, for a period of six months beyond August 20, 2014 and up to February 20, 2015.

Kundra was appointed as the CVO, which acts as distant arm of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) to ensure transparency in an organisation and take steps to check corruption, in April 2012.
