Hyderabad: A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Hyderabad has awarded seven-year imprisonment to underworld don Abu Salem in the 2001 fake passport case today.
Salem had allegedly procured the fake passport under the fictitious identity of Ramil Kamil Malik by submitting fake documents, that included forged birth date, residential proof and name of father, to the Hyderabad Regional Passport Office, allegedly in connivance with some government officials and private persons in 2001.
The fake passport case was transferred to the central agency from the AP police in October 2002 and a chargesheet was filed in 2004.
On November 18, the 3rd special court for CBI cases Judge M V Ramana Naidu had held the underworld don guilty and on 28th of November salem has been awarded seven year imprisonment.
