New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi this evening led the nation's virtual who's who at a glittering event at Delhi's Pragati Maidan this evening to celebrate 21 years of Rajat Sharma's Aap Ki Adalat, Indian television's longest running show.
For the first time ever, the three great Bollywood Khans - Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir Khan also attended the event which saw the presence of numerous film stars, cricketers, singers, politicians and captains of industry.
Salman Khan was the first to arrive, followed by Amir Khan, and the last to reach was Shah Rukh Khan. Never in Bollywood's history had the three Khans attended a single event under one roof.
Lauding Rajat Sharma's Aap Ki Adalat show, President Pranab Mukherjee said: "This show has manifested the strength of Indian democracy. Rajat told us on this show that he had no degree to become a prosecutor, but the 125 crore people of India have made him the people's prosecutor".
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: "Rajatji knows the art of extracting a reply through his sweet questioning. In the 21 years of this show, nobody has been forced to reply, and this itself is a glowing example.
"One big quality of Rajatji is that he uses his tongue sparingly in his show, but he uses his heart to the fullest. A clever mind works behind this.
"India today has more than 850 TV channels, but his show stands out despite having the same sets and the same host. Only Rajatji's tie and the guest change in his show every time", said Modi.
"As far as I know about Rajatji, I can say: to gain fame is not a difficult thing, but to preserve that fame is really difficult. Rajatji has this skill and it will surely take him far ahead", Modi said.
Recalling Rajat Sharma's humble beginnings in a poor family, the Prime Minister said, as a child he stayed in a single room with his poor family, but became what he is today only because of his perseverance.
