Mumbai: Congress MPs Sanjay Nirupam and Priya Dutt today led thousands of Congress workers in a 'morcha' (procession) against Reliance Energy demanding cut in power tariff in Mumbai.
This protest appears to be on the lines of Aam Aadmi Party, whose government in Delhi has ordered the audit of all three discoms and provided subsidy for power tariff.
The protesters gathered outside the office of Reliance Energy in Kandivali, with a huge posse of policemen present.
Both the MPs addressed the protesters demanding lowering of power tariff by Reliance Energy.
They also demanded audit of Reliance Energy on the lines of audit of discoms in Delhi.
The protesters numbering nearly five thousand squatted on the road holding up traffic.
Police had a tough time in persuading the protesters to disperse.
