New Delhi: Congress vice President Rahul Gandhi today once again launched an attack on the ruling NDA government and stated that Narendra Modi led government is anti-farmer.

Speaking exclusively to IndiaTV, senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia also echoed the same views as expressed by his party's vice president.

Scindia said that it is the duty of the opposition to raise issues which are directly connected with the common man.  He said that the present government is 'anti-farmer' and are framing such policies which will totally destroy the agrarian set up of the country.  He added that the government is framing policies which will benefit only a few sections of people and 'Make in India' is one such programme.

He said that Congress will always stand with the farmer during the hour of crisis.  Farmers are backbone of this country and it is the farmers who have helped the country to become self-sufficient when it comes to food.

Scindia criticised the recent comments made by the state ministers of Haryana and Rajasthan and stated that these comments go on to show BJP's insensitivity towards farmers.

He further added that during the erstwhile UPA regime at the centre, the government had waived off a loan of around 72,000 crores to farmers and had also increased the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of all the food grains and pulses.

Jyotiraditya Scindia also said that it was the UPA government which had allocated Rs 8,500 crore for Vidarbha region and 7,500 crore for the farmers of Bundelkhand region.  He pointed out that the growth rate in the agriculture sector has also fallen after the NDA government came to power.
