New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal is the name which is echoing in Delhi and even children are now aware about his name. He is the person responsible for bringing in a big revolution among common man and making them understand their rights.Few years back he was just a common man working as an Indian Revenue Service officer to earn his livelihood but now he is known as a famous politician.Here we take a look at his life: Arvind Kejriwal was born on 16 August 1968 in Hisar,Haryana. Arvind is the eldest son of his parents, he has two siblings.After completing his studies in mechanical engineering at IIT Kharagpur he worked for Tata Steel from 1989 till 1992. He left the job at TATA steel for the preparation of civil service examinations.He qualified the Civil Services Examination in 1995 and was appointed as an Indian Revenue Service officer.He has worked with Mother Teresa, Ramakrishna Mission and Nehru Yuva Kendra for the welfare of the people in general.While working as an IRS officer he helped found a movement named Parivartan in 1999.Under the Parivartan movement he used to help people with their income tax problem and through this movement 800 cases were resolved effectively in 18 months.He resigned as a Joint Commissioner in the Income Tax Department in 2006.After resigning from IRS, he founded an NGO Public cause Research Foundation Public Cause Research Foundation was set up on the 19th of December, 2006 by Magsaysay awardee Arvind Kejriwal, former journalist Manish Sisodia and Abhinandan Sekhri to ensure that society becomes more inclusive and that real power rests with the common citizens of India.The Foundation works to collect, research, analyse, and disseminate information about various aspects of governance to ensure that rules and laws are enacted and enforced and policies implemented. For this, PCRF uses the RTI act extensively and promotes awareness of the act.He was honoured with ‘Satyendra K. Dubey Memorial Award' by IIT Kanpur for his campaign for bringing transparency in Government.In 2006 CNN-IBN honoured him as ‘Indian of the Year' in Public Service.Kejriwal's fight against corruption began when he unearthed the fake Ration card scam in Delhi in 2008 through his movement parivartan.He won Distinguished Alumnus Award for Eminent Leadership from IIT Kharagpur in 2009.In 2010 The Economic Times honoured him with Policy Change Agent of the Year award for Corporate Excellence.Kejriwal is the man who made efforts to bring and implement the Right to Information (RTI) act at grassroots level.He came into lime light after he campaigned for introduction of Jan Lokpal Billthat featured Anna Hazare. He had been arrested for his support of Hazare.During his campaign he became target of many politicians and was challenged by many political leaders to enter into politics and then take an effort to do something for the public. Finally in his fight against corruption Kejriwal launched his political party on October, 2 , 2012 . In 2013 Delhi Assembly polls he fought against the three time chief minister of Delhi Sheila Dixit from New Delhi constituency and had an unexpectable win.He is strictly against the system where the MP is given so many facilities like too much security, large accommodation, red beacons.Delhi has shown faith in his promises now we will wait and watch weather he will bring the changes he promised or not.
