Jodhpur (Rajasthan) : Kiran Devi Gehlot (72), retired member of a local Consumer Forum, on Tuesday night fought two burglars single-handedly and made them flee. In course of the fight, she had serious bruise on her head. Two burglars sneaked into her house at around midnight, armed with a knife and iron rod. They tried to break the almirah in Kiran Devi's bedroom.
The old woman woke up, hearing noises and screamed. One of the burglars clamped his palm over her mouth, while another brought a knife from the kitchen. The burglar attacked her with a knife, but the brave old woman caught the knife and reversed it towards the attacker.
The attacker was bruised in his shoulder. His associate hit Kiran Devi on her head and arm with an iron rod, but the valiant woman forced them to flee. Hearing her screams, her husband sleeping in a room at the rear, along with neighbours rushed to the scene, took the bleeding woman to MDM Hospital. Police is yet to catch the burglars.
