New Delhi: Seven girls, hailing from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, were rescued from Delhi's red light area GB Road by a joint team of police and an NGO, police said yesterday.

The owner of the brothel from where the girls, aged between 20 and 25, were freed was arrested during the raid yesterday, they said.

Two representatives of NGO STOP, along with Karnataka policemen approached the Kamla Market police station claiming that a girl who had gone missing from Gowribidnur in Karnataka was confined at a brothel in GB Road, DCP Alok Kumar (Central district) said.

They also informed that some other girls were also forcibly confined at the brothel.

The police conducted the raid and rescued seven girls and arrested the owner of the brothel. Of the rescued girls, five are natives of Karnataka and two are from Andhra Pradesh.

During investigation, it was revealed that all the girls belong to poor families and were lured into flesh trade on the pretext of giving them jobs in Delhi.
