Kanpur: As many as 61 silver coins of the Mughal period were recovered from Kanpur's cantonment area containing Arabic and Persian inscriptions.
The coins were spotted by children playing there, an official said.
Soon after the news was spread, hundreds of people rushed to spot.
Later, Army officials were apprised of the development. The Army, with the help of local police, cordoned off the area and took the coins in their possession.
The coins were spotted near the Dabla sewer in Baba Hardev Ghat vicinity.
A team of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will be visiting the site tomorrow. After the arrival of the ASI team, further digging will be carried out in the presence of Army.
