Saharsa: Six children drowned while trying to create a platform for Chhath festivities in a pond at Pulindabad village in Saharsa district of Bihar today.
While five boys lost their lives in the pond, another died on way to hospital, Superintendent of Police Pankaj Sinha said.
A search is on for a boy who has gone missing, the SP said The accident occurred when the victims in the age group of 10-15 years were engaged in creating ghat (platform) for Chhath festival. Three of them went upto the middle of the pond and drowned.
Others went to save them and met with the same fate, the SP said. Besides SP, District Magistrate Shashibhusan Sahay is also camping on the spot.
