Mumbai: Fifty persons were admitted to three hospitals of Mumbai Tuesday evening after they were bitten by stingray fish at Chowpatty beach during immersion of Ganesh idols.
Thirty-eight persons were taken to Nair Hospital, eleven to GT Hospital and one was admitted to J J Hospital.
All the injured persons admitted are having severe unbearable pain, and have been administered painkillers and antibiotics.
Doctors said, stingray fish was not poisonous and the injured were suffering from sting and minor bleeding.
A BMC official said, the devotees were rescued by divers deployed at Girgaum Chowpatty beach.
