Nearly five to seven kilograms of explosives were used to cause the IED blast at Germany bakery in Pune, sources said on Saturday night.

Initial reports suggested Indian Mujahideen is being suspected to be behind the blast, the report added.

At least nine persons, including 5 women, have died and 45 people, mostly foreign nationals, were injured in the blast that occurred at about 7.30 p.m. in Koregaon Park near Osho Ashram.

The blast occurred when an unidentified bag lying near the kitchen was opened by a waiter in the bakery, police said.

Meanwhile, another unclaimed bag was found near the bakery, which was defused.

Germany Bakery is a popular venue here and is visited by a lot of foreign nationals. The injured, meanwhile, have been rushed to the nearby Sassoon Hospital. The number of the injured is expected to rise.
