New Delhi, Sept 18: With power lines and telecommunications snapped in Sikkim and North Bengal, the government has directed Indian Air Force to fly four transport aircraft to Bagdogra, the key airport in North Bengal, for rushing relief materials to quakehit people.
The Cabinet Secretary who chaired a meeting of senior officials said, 4 IAF aircrafts, two from Hindon, one from Palam and the fourth from Kolkata carrying about 300 NDRF (National Disaster Relief Force) personnel and all nesesary equipments are leaving for Bagdogra.
From Bagdogra they will be taken to Gangtok, and their movement will be facilitated by BSF and WB government, he added.
