Puducherry, Dec 3: The Puducherry Government has intensified steps to earmark three per cent quota in education and employed for differently abled persons.
“The administration is keen that there should be equal opportunities in all spheres of development for the differently abled,” welfare Minister P Rajavelu said in his message on the occasion of ‘International Day of persons with disabilities' today.
Listing the measures already taken, he said free rice, monthly financial aid,special loans to enable differently abled persons start self employment projects and wherever possible training in technical trade, formed part of the government's schemes for them.
He said President Pranab Mukherjee would present the national award to the corporation today at Delhi for ‘its excellent work in ameliorating the lot of women and differently abled.”
The welfare Ministry had selected the Corporation for the award.
