Gorakhpur: With three more deaths due to encephalitis reported here in the past 24 hours, the toll from the disease in the eastern Uttar Pradesh has reached 255 this year, health officials said today.
Saidulnissa (35) of Siddharthanagar, Dabul (5) and Chandrajit (65) of Gorakhpur died at the BRD Medical College here in the last 24 hours, the sources in the office of Additional Director (Health) said.
This year, a total of 1,145 encephalitis patients have been admitted to BRD Medical College and other government hospitals, of which 255 have died, the sources said.
As many as 131 cases are being treated at BRD Hospital and other government hospitals, according to them.
