Gaya (Bihar): Over 200 Mahadalits belonging to 40 families on Christmas Day converted to Christianity in the presence of a Jesuit priest in Atiya panchyat under Bodhgaya block of Gaya district.
Mahadalits belong to that section of Dalits in Bihar, who are not only socio-economically backward but also belong to the lowest stratum of Dalits.
Several Mahadalits of this village had converted to Christianity, but today the entire Mahadalit tola (locality) converted. The neo-converts participated in a prayer conducted by a local priest.
