Chhatarpur, MP, Oct 16 : Sixteen persons were killed and nearly 20 others were injured when a bus collided head-on with a trolley near Naugaon early this morning.
The bus was on its way to Chhatarpur from Harpalpur.
There were 60 to 70 passengers inside the bus when the mishap took place.
The injured people have been sent to hospital.
Two passengers were trapped between the badly mangled bus and trolley, and efforts were being made to rescue them.
The Madhya Pradesh government has announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 1 lakh to the next of kin of each of those killed, and Rs 50,000 to those who are seriously injured. The state government will bear full expenses for the treatment of all the injured passengers.
