Chandigarh, Sept 6: Fourteen Punjabi youths returned home on Monday after a harrowing stay in Iraq.
These youths had given large sums of money to middlemen to give them good jobs in Iraq, but on landing in that country, they were asked to work in de-mining operations and on agricultural land.
The youths were almost kept hostages by their Arab employers. After they sent letters to their relatives here, the Punjab and Haryana High court directed the government to take steps for their repatriation through the Indian Embassy.
