12 Tales Of Grief After Delhi Blast

New Delhi, Sep 9: India TV met the families of twelve persons who were victims of the deadly terror strike outside Delhi High Court on Wednesday. The 13th victim P Patra died late on Thursday night before this report was prepared.


Tale No. One : A K Sharma was India swimming coach and worked as a teacher in Kendriya Vidyalaya at Palam Extension. On that fateful Wednesday, he fell to the terror strike. His weeping widow Sangeeta says, she wants her husband back and offers to return the Rs 4 lakh compensation.

Tale No. Two : 40-year-old Pramod Kumar Chaurasia from Saharsa, Bihar, died in the blast. His family members had to run from pillar to post in order to get his body.

Tale No. Three : Vinod Bakshi shows mediapersons the picture of his brother Mridul Bakshi, presently fighting for his life in RML Hospital. Mridul had become the proud father of a son a few days ago after six years of marriage. Says Vinod: "I asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, how long should we have to carry the dead bodies of our near and dear ones". Singh replied; 'Sab Bhagwan ki marzi" (All is God's wish). He tried to ask Chidambaram the same question, but Chidambaram didn't say anything and walked away.

Tale No. Four : 21-year-old Amanpreet Singh was an intern with a senior lawyer. He had forgotten to bring his black robe that day and had gone to the counter to collect the entry pass, when death struck.  A student of IME Law College Ghaziabad, Amanpreet was a vivrant youth. Today, his father is heartbroken.

Tale No. Five : Eighty-year-old Darshan Lal of 17, Shakti Nagar Extn left for High Court at 8 am, saying he would be back in two hours. he didn't.

Tale No. Six : Hafiz Nizamuddin, a retired court registrar from Meerut had come to Delhi secure bail for his grandson. He fell to a terrorist's bomb.

Tale No. Seven : Businessman Harish Dutt Joshi was the president of Naraina Industrial Area Traders Association. He met death at Gate No.5 of Delhi High court.

Tale No. Eight : Senior citizen Inderjit Singh was in the queue, while his son Surjit Singh stood in the other queue. In front of Surjit's eyes, his father fell to the terrorist's bomb and died on way to hospital.

Tale No. Nine : Senior lady Nalini had come to High Court with her husband and son-in-law. Nalini fell to the blast, while her husband is fighting for life in Hospital, says her daughter Shalini. Shalini's husband took time to cross the road and saved himself from death. They had come in connection with a property dispute.

Tale No. Ten : Fifty-year-old Veerpal Singh of Gandhi Nagar was standing in the senior citizens' queue, when the blast took place. He died on the spot.

Tale No. Eleven : Vinod Jaiswal and Atul Kaushik, both of Sarai Rohilla lost their lives in the blast.

Tale No. Twelve : Liaquat Ali is maintaining a vigil at RML Hospital. Four of his family members - brother, and three nephews-  are fighting for their lives in hospital. All four had been slapped with a false case and had come to Delhi High Court for relief.
