Thane, May 29: At least 12 people were killed and 15 injured early Wednesday when a luxury tourist bus rammed into a truck and plunged into a river in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said.
The accident occurred around 7 a.m. when the Ahmedabad-Mumbai tourist bus and a truck collided near Kasa village, around 110 km north of Mumbai, an official from Palghar police said.
Due to the impact of the collision, the luxury bus veered off the road and plunged into a river, trapping passengers.
The toll is likely to increase as some passengers remain trapped inside the bus.
Relief and rescue operations were underway.
