Celebrated since the 18th century, the festival was introduce by the Portuguese people who ruled over Goa over 500 years. The carnival is held in February for three days and nights when the streets come alive with lights and color. The last day is the most fun, as it also includes fruit and vegetable carving contests and salad dressing competitions.
