Indore, May 23: Ten pilgrims were killed and 59 others were injured when a ‘double-decker' tempo hit another tempo coming from the opposite direction in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district on Tuesday night.
The mishap took place on the Indore-Ahmedabad highway, as the ‘double-decker' tempo loaded with nearly 150 pilgrims, including men, women and children, was going to Shiv Baba temple in Khandwa district.
All the villagers belonged to Jhirigaon near Umerkot of Jhabua district.
Eyewitnesses said, the tempo coming from the opposite direction was being driven by a driver who was drunk.
The CMO of Dhar district hospital, where the injured pilgrims have been admitted, said, the death toll could rise as the number of those critically injured was high.
