SRINAGAR: The recent recovery of tinned food from slain militants who tried to cross the Line of Control ( LOC), has raised concerns among the security agencies in the state, as the tins are meant for the soldiers of Pakistan, says a Mumbai Mirror report.

The seized items bear ‘Made in Pakistan' label. According to Army sources, the tins reaching militants shows a link between militant groups active in Jammu and Kashmir and the security establishment in Pakistan.

The shoes, water bottles and other winter gear that was used by the militants carried the Made in Pakistan label while the A K rifles must have been manufactured in Russia.

The tin cans were part of a large haul of arms, ammunition and warlike stores recovered by the Army after an encounter near the LoC on March 23.

The militants were not only carrying items meant for the Pakistani army, but also possessed state of the art gadgets like Global Positioning Systems (GPS) made in the US.

“Militants operating in the valley carry latest GPS. It is operated like a touch screen phone, which reveals the exact location of the person,” said PRO Defence Col J S Brar.

To back up the GPS, militants were equipped with Thuraya satellite phones as they kept in touch with their handlers across the LoC to navigate their way through the treacherous and snow bound terrain.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army on Wednesday night gunned down six Lashker-e-Taiba terrorist in two separate encounters in Rajouri.

However, the army lost four of its jawans in two separate encounters in Rajouri.

The soldiers recovered a huge haul of arms from Plana Kanthol Lambi Bari area where terrorists were killed. The recovered arms include three AK 47 rifles, eight magazines of AK, 123 Cobra rounds of AK-47, 34 rounds of 9 mm pistol, one UBGL, four winter caps, three Pakistan Army pouches, five maps of India, three carry bags, seven UBGL grenades, eight Chinese grenades, one GPS and two satellite phones among others.
