Thiruvananthapuram: Ijas Muhammad, one of the several youths from Kerala who disappeared mysteriously and are suspected to have joined the Islamic State, sent an audio message to his parents informing them that he has reached his destination and they need not look for him anymore.
According to a Hindustan Times report, Muhammad, a physician and native of north Kerala’s Kasargod district sent an online message to his parents saying, “We reached our destination. There is no point in complaining to police as this will create more problems for you. We have no plans to return from the abode of Allah.”
The intelligence agencies claim that the online communication originated from West Asia.
Muhammad had a medical degree from China and was working with a clinic at Vadakara in Kozhikode district. His colleagues told that he was on leave for the past two months.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Kerala LDF government headed by Pinarayi Vijayan for the first time admitted that the 21 people missing from the Kasaragod and Palakkad districts could not be traced.
“The missing from Kasargode included four women and three children. And two women were among the missing from Palakkad,” Hindustan Times quoted him as saying.
On the other hand, Nimisha, sister of a NSG commando and a student of dentistry, is also suspected to be among the 21 people who have disappeared from Kerala and are feared to have joined the ISIS terror outfit.
Nimisha was married to 30-year-old Bexin Vincent, a Christian MBA graduate who took the name Eza after converting to Islam.
What is more shocking is that most of these youths are highly educated and are from well-to-do families.
Police suspect that the youth from Kerala allegedly joining the terror group are indoctrinated by Salafi groups.
“Most of them are inspired by Wahabism. The IS too is driven by the same principles,” said a Muslim reformist in Kozhikode.
