Massive traffic jams battered the national capital on Friday after a water pipeline burst near Nizamuddin flooding certain regions in South Delhi.
The outer Ring Road between Maharani Bagh and Sarai Kale Khan remained blocked today for the emergency repairs of the broken pipeline. Apart from this, several areas including Lajpat Nagar, Ashram and the nearby routes were affected.
Vehicles moving towards Sarai Kale Khan were advised to take a diversion from Ashram and use the Mathura Road-India Gate-ITO route, while those from Noida were asked to take the Barapullah from the DND.
"I was waiting for a bus at Gupta Market Bus stand near Lajpat Nagar since 2 pm but it was only after one hour that a bus heading towards Noida arrived amid the heavy traffic on road," a commuter said.
"A journey that takes me 15-20 minutes every day, stretched on to one hour today. There was heavy traffic from Lajpat to Maharani Bagh," she added.
