After evading arrest for 38 days, Honeypreet Insan, the adopted daughter of jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, was finally arrested by the Haryana Police on Tuesday. Honeypreet will be produced before a trial court in Haryana’s Panchkula on Wednesday.
Honeypreet, in her mid-30s, has been the closest aide of Ram Rahim since 2009. She went into hiding on August 25 after violence broke out in Haryana and Punjab following the conviction of Ram Rahim in two rape cases.
After the Dera chief's conviction on that day, she also accompanied him in a chopper when he was flown to Rohtak to be lodged in a jail.
Honeypreet, in her mid-30s, has been the closest aide of Ram Rahim since 2009. Honeypreet, who has been claiming to be Ram Rahim's "adopted daughter", starred as the main heroine in five films he directed, produced and acted in over a period of three years.
Her ex-husband Vishwas Gupta had alleged that her father-daughter relationship with Ram Rahim was fake, and that the two had sexual relations.
