Vibrant Gujarat Summit | During entire term of our government, average GDP was 7.3 per cent, highest since 1991: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that since he assumed office his government’s average Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was 7.3 per cent, highest for any Indian government since 1991.

“At 7.3%, average GDP growth over the entire term of our government, has been the highest for any Indian government since 1991, also the average rate of inflation at 4.6% is the lowest for any Indian government since 1991,” PM Modi said during the 9th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

“In the last four years, we have jumped 65 places in the Global Ranking of World Bank’s Doing Business Report. But we are still not satisfied. I have asked my team to work harder so that India is in the top 50 next year,” PM added.

He also stressed that the present government “will continue the pace and process of reforms" and added that the aim is “to grow horizontally and vertically.”

PM said his government is focused on removing the barriers which were preventing the country from achieving its potential.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the 9th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. In 2003, Modi had conceptualised the summit as Gujarat Chief Minister to position Gujarat as an ideal investment destination.

PM Modi arrived in Gandhinagar on Thursday on a three-day visit to his home state to thrown open his pet biennial Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit besides other events in the state capital and Ahmedabad.
