Congress denies reports of Rahul Gandhi offering resignation as party president

Reports of Congress President Rahul Gandhi offering resignation are incorrect, says Randeep Singh Surjewala. When asked on fixing responsibility for loss, Rahul Gandhi said, "This is between my party and I. Between me and the Congress CWC."

According to sources, Rahul Gandhi has offered to resign as the president of Congress.

Rahul Gandhi also congratulated Prime Minister Modi on winning the mandate of the public in Lok Sabha election 2019.

Erstwhile royal candidates of Uttar Pradesh: 

Congress' Pratapgarh candidate, Rajkumari Ratna Singh of the erstwhile Kalakankar royal family, is trailing by over 2.3 lakh votes against the BJP's Sangam Lal Gupta.

BJP's Kirti Vardhan Singh, also known as Raja Bhaiya, of the erstwhile Mankapur royal family, is leading over 40,000 votes against Samajwadi Party candidate Vinod Kumar from Gonda constituency.

Kunwer Ratanjit Pratap Singh, contesting on a Congress ticket from Kushi Nagar, is trailing by over 2.8 lakh votes against N P Kushwaha of the Samajwadi Party.

SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav is leading in Mainpuri by 15,297 votes over the BJP's Prem Singh Shakya. Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav, is leading by 5,420 votes over the BJP's Subrat Pathak in Kannauj.

In Azamgarh, Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is leading by 45,023 votes against Bhojpuri actor and BJP candidate Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirhua', according to the Election Commission website.

Narendra Modi is all set to register another major win. Latest trends show PM Modi to be in the lead with a margin of over 2 lakh from the constituency of Varanasi. 

The BJP forged ahead of its rivals in 58 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh while the BSP-SP alliance is leading in 19 seats as counting of votes progressed, according to Election Commission trends.
In Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading by over 55,000 votes.
In the high-profile Amethi seat, BJP's Smriti Irani established an early lead of 1,931 votes against sitting MP and Congress president Rahul Gandhi while UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi is leading in neighbouring Rae Bareli by over 17,000 votes. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is leading against his nearest SP rival Poonam Sinha and in Lucknow, Reports PTI.

Smriti Irani is giving a tough fight to Rahul Gandhi, as she is currently leading by 4,300 votes.
